Originally called “Contrology”, Authentic Pilates was created by German born, Joseph H. Pilates. It is an exercise system focused on strengthening the “powerhouse”: abdominals, pelvic floor, back, hips and buttocks. Pilates improves flexibility in the entire body without adding bulk. It is a series of controlled movements that engage both the mind and body in an effort to develop the body uniformly. Joseph H. Pilates created over 500 exercises making it suitable for all body types and skill levels.
Who Can Do Pilates?
EVERYONE! Pilates puts no stress on your joints and does not wear and tear on your ligaments and cartilage around your joints. It conditions your muscles in a balanced way and increases your self- awareness by drawing your focus inward. Pilates is very rehabilitative. You can safely do Pilates every day without overstressing your body. To see the best results, practice Pilates at least 3 times a week. Consistency is the key. Privates, duets, group classes and homework are great ways to obtain your workouts and achieve amazing results. Whether you are a beginner, a seasoned athlete, or someone looking for injury rehabilitation, Authentic Pilates at Mind Body Works is a great exercise system for you.
